Static friction is the initial friction you have to overcome when moving a mouse from a standstill. Lower static and dynamic friction allows for less restricted movement of the mouse. This essentially equates to quicker, more raw aiming.
Designed for control at any level of competition.
Finding an ideal level of control for Tactical First Person Shooters.
Maintaining a good amount of static and dynamic friction, however, can help with precision, and can lead to the well-known locked-in feeling. Mouse movements (including micromovements) are stabilized through increased friction, nullifying most shakes, jitters, and other unintended movements. Additionally, the higher friction acts essentially like “brakes” on the mouse, leading to more accurate stops than if you were on a faster pad. It must be said, though, that you can learn to have just as accurate stops on something like a glass pad. It’s just much harder (at least at the start), as you have to rely on your hand’s ability to slow the mouse down precisely rather than relying on the pad’s friction to do the heavy lifting.
Higher friction levels make Imperium (Squishy) a control pad. A bit slower than a medium-speed pad, control pads offer a locked-in glide while still allowing for quick (although more physically taxing) movements.

Catered towards Tactical First Person Shooters.
In a game like Counter-Strike, for example, when an enemy peeks a corner and is just millimeters away from the center of your crosshair, a control pad like Imperium offers precise, locked-in movements from start to stop.
While it’s true that you can reach the same skill level with a faster pad, most Counter-Strike pro players still use control and medium-speed pads to maximize the help they receive from their pads when aiming.
Stopping power on tap: Squishy PORON® base.
Press your mouse into the pad to get extra stopping power whilst aiming. The extra squish from our authentic PORON® base allows you to press into the pad more than a firm pad, which brings in an added amount of stopping power. Essentially, this gives you stopping power on tap.
Stopping power is the ability to stop the mouse abruptly and accurately on a target. When you have higher stopping power, the ability to stop abruptly and accurately is heightened, leading to more precise stops as well as flicks.
Comfort is king.
Ultimately, Imperium is a surface fabric manufactured for Tactical First Person Shooters, such as Counter-Strike and Valorant, embodying the core characteristics of a control pad. We aimed to provide a mouse pad that fits in its respective category so that gamers can know exactly what they’re getting when buying one of our pads.
We can’t say it will be the best pad to ever exist for Counter-Strike or Valorant. That designation comes from the gamers who choose to use a pad over and over again. What we can say, though, is that this pad fits within the control range, making it a great choice for most Counter-Strike and Valorant players. Imperium (Squishy) could be a contender for the pad that you’re most confident and effective using, potentially helping you aim at a higher level. Mostly, though, this comes down to personal preferences and the game you’re playing. There’s no “best” pad that’s going to inherently outperform another pad within the same speed category.
We truly hope you enjoy the pad, but if you buy it and it doesn’t feel like it’s the pad for you, feel free to return it through Amazon.
